What’s New for 2022?
When a runner runs a race, his/her focus is not on the people in the stands or on the runners around him/her, but on the finish line!
God has deposited in my sprit that moving into 2022, I need to be focused on Him! As a believer, my life is like a race, and as I run, it’s important for me to keep my eyes fixed on Jesus.
Hebrews 12:1 tells us that if we are going to run our race, we must lay aside every WEIGHT and run the race with patience. After a well thought out analysis of my life, my marriage, my business, I’ve come to accept that I have many hindrances that are stopping me from developing my full potential. I have so much weight that I carry on my shoulders and in my heart that it gets in the way of me winning my race.
For example, there are many times that I overcommit myself to too many projects and I fail to be excellent at any one of them. Can you relate? Overcommitting isn’t good because it causes pressure, mediocrity and delay. Moving into 2022, I’m no longer going to overcommit myself!
Do you have a problem with saying “no”? Not knowing how to say “no” can make or break you. It can cause stress, anxiety and defeat! If you give me the right look, tell me the little magic word or give me the right story, I’ll more than likely answer you with a “yes”. Not anymore, moving into 2022, I’m determined to say “no” more often! My health depends on it!
I also find myself at times letting other people influence my decisions. There are good influencers and bad influencers. Good influencers encourage you to develop your full potential. Bad influencers will cause you to second guess yourself. It’s like when you take a multiple choice exam and you ponder too long on a question and you erase your first choice only to find out later that it was the right choice all along. I’ve learned that the best decisions are made within three seconds. If it takes you longer than three seconds to come up with an answer, you’re probably going to resort to someone else making the decision for you. Moving into 2022, I’m going with the three second rule!
Probably one of the most hindering things that you can ever do to your own personal growth, is getting overly involved in someone else’s goals and visions. I tend to entangle myself into helping others succeed that I lose focus on my own goals. I wasn’t created to help others get to their finish line, I have more purpose than that! Moving into 2022, I’m focusing more on me and the God I serve!
My 2022 wife-move will be to better encourage and serve my husband. My 2022 mom-move will be to make myself more available to my children. My 2022 business-move will be to open another physical therapy center!
But before I execute any of my 2022 goals, I want to do what God has called me to do. I must stay focused on Him. This world is full of distractions and entanglements. God deserves my undivided attention. It is through Him that I will win my race!
Let me encourage you to keep your focus on the Lord. Be diligent to lay aside everything that is distracting you or holding you back! Move into 2022 knowing that God is the only true constant!
