Physical therapy is successful for treating chronic neck pain. Physical therapy reduces pain and/or stiffness allowing you to begin an exercise program of strengthening and stretching the neck. Everyone is different. There is not a cookie-cutter approach for treating your pain, the treatments and duration of treatment can vary from person to person.
Our treatment approach is geared towards treating with passive and active treatments. Passive treatments include heat/ice, massage, Electrotherapy and laser. Active treatments include both neck stretching and neck strengthening exercises. You will achieve the best results when you combine the two.
However, if you want optimal results, we recommend that you follow through with a home maintenance program during and after your formal physical therapy ends. In other words, physical therapy may help eliminate the pain but adhering to a home exercise program and lifestyle changes for good posture will prevent the pain from coming back.
